Trail Course Conditions
One of the things we love most about the Chesebro Half Marathon is that even though it’s the same course each year, it always feels a little different. The scenery changes, and each year brings its own version of this spectacular 13.1-mile experience, with beautiful wildflowers adding even more color along the way. This year, the trail is in excellent condition.
The trail is extremely dry and hard packed. The east side of the trail portion, miles 3 through 6 are in great condition, dry and hardpacked. The north portion, miles 6 - 8 vary from hard packed to rocky (it's permanently rocky). The west side, miles 8 to 10.5, are dry and hard packed with a few sandy spots on the level portions.
Two areas of caution --1. There is a small water crossing at about mile 5.7, and by water crossing we mean a spot where you may have to break stride and be more cognizant while crossing. The good news is that this is passable with either large steps or on stepping stones so you won’t get your feet wet.
2. Right after the Mile 6 water station, after the big rock in area known as Sulphur Springs, as always, the trail is muddy with running water. The National Park Service team has installed four mini bridges to make it a bit easier to navigate through. You will want to slow down and watch your footing here.

Parking
View our interactive parking map showing the different parking lots.
The main parking area for the half marathon is at Agoura Bible Fellowship and Agoura High School. TIP: Agoura Bible Fellowship is the most convenient for easy access entering and leaving the event. While Agoura High School is closer to the venue, if you park at Agoura HS, you cannot exit from 9:45 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. as this is where the 1 Mile run stages and starts from. For quicker access out, after your run, Agoura Bible Fellowship is the better choice. There are about 500 spaces on this east side of the venue. There are more than 500 of you. So, if you plan to park here, which is the closest parking, arrive early. If the area fills up have a back up plan where to park which will then be on the west side of the venue.
This is covered in the Getting Ready information provided: The parking lots at Agoura High School at 28545 W. Driver Ave. and at Agoura Bible Fellowship at 5564 Foothill Dr., are for half marathon parking and early arriving 10Kers and will close by 6:45 a.m. There are approximately 500 spaces in this area, and these will fill up. If you get to this area on the later end, you may find all spaces are full. You can street park in legal spaces on Easterly Dr. Do not park on Driver Ave. or Fountain Pl. or Foothill Dr. north of Fountain Pl. as these are no parking zones.
AFTER 6:45 A.M. THERE IS NO ACCESS IN TO PARK AT AGOURA HIGH OR AGOURA BIBLE FELLOWSHIP as roads are closed to get ready for the start of the race. After 6:45 a.m., exit the 101 Fwy at Kanan Rd. After 6:45 a.m. all participants should plan to park in one of the areas off of Kanan Rd.
WE CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH, HAVE A PLAN WITH MULTIPLE OPTIONS OF WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO PARK.
DO NOT PARK in a posted no parking zone, a tow away zone, a time-limited space, a customer-only space, or on a red line, do not park at Taco Bell. Don't create your own parking space in an area that is not meant for parking. If you do, you will be towed. You don't want your trip home to take a lot longer than you planned. Use common sense and park in a legal parking space.
